UCSB Master Plan

A university master plan for growth

UCSB feared they had run out of space on their main campus. UDA worked with the university to rediscover and expand their campus structure, resulting in a plan that will accommodate years of growth. The planning process engaged a broad cross-section of the university including students, faculty, staff, administrators, technicians, and consultants. The process rediscovered the original open spaces that had been obscured by temporary buildings, poor landscaping, and wasted space. The plan establishes a framework of development parcels and circulation within which individual building projects can be developed. Future buildings will be conceived as a means of creating public spaces as well as containers for academic functions.
