Legacy Pointe at Poindexter

Creating a mixed-income neighborhood close to downtown

UDA prepared a revitalization plan for Poindexter Village with a community-driven design process. Vacant land adjacent to the public housing site enabled a more substantial transformation with 345 new market rate and tax credit rental units in garden apartment buildings and townhouses as well as 104 new affordable senior units. The plan reinstates the “Blackberry Patch” as a historic community park. Other amenities include a combined senior and child daycare center, community room and exercise facilities, as well as an urban farm and food hub. In July of 2014, the project received a Choice Neighborhood Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
